Andrea Rugg, CNM
This Work Has Been My Calling Since I Was Ten Years Old.

From a young age, I have been captivated by the beauty of birth and everything surrounding it (Menarche to Menopause). My passion began at ten years old when I witnessed my brother's birth with a midwife. Since then, I have been dedicated to this lifelong pursuit. I earned my Masters in Nurse-Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University.
I’ve been in healthcare for 16 years, starting as a CNA and working my way through nursing to earn my master’s degree in midwifery: my dream since the very beginning. I’m a board-certified nurse-midwife through the AMCB and love expanding my knowledge through ongoing education, so I can provide the most thoughtful, informed care to the families I’m honored to serve.
I am a proud Oregonian, born and raised, and I myself was caught by a midwife in Eugene. Today, I live in Bend with my loving blended family, including my husband Jon and our children. My children were born at a free-standing birth center. A water baby in 2017 and a land baby in 2022 and 2025. My oldest was able to witness both her siblings births and still aspires to be a midwife someday. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, sipping on coffee, reading books, baking treats, and immersing my senses in nature. I am enthusiastic about life, learning, and positively impacting the lives of those around me.
I hope your journey through parenthood is filled with strength, joy, and endless love that will continue to grow through the years.

Emily Ferris, LPN
I am a proud Oregon native living in Central Oregon with my husband, Jaxun (my high school sweetheart!), and our sweet pup, Bentley. We got married in 2017, Creativity keeps me grounded — I love making small-batch organic skincare, sewing whimsical baby mobiles, and crafting playful goodies like placenta-themed coffee mugs. When I’m not listening to a crackling campfire,
soaking in the smell of rain, sipping coffee, or laughing until my face hurts you’ll find me doing the work I love most: supporting families through birth. I’ve been a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) for over 10 years, with most of that time spent in labor, delivery, and postpartum care. My experience spans from hospital to home births. I currently am support several of the amazing midwives in Central Oregon as a birth assistant. Outside of the birth space, I also provide IV nutrient therapy infusions and run my own postpartum doula practice — Nurture Moon Birth Services, which I launched in 2020. I am currently working toward becoming both an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certified) to deepen my ability to support families through every phase of their journey.

Katie Chatwin, RN
I’m Katie, a mom of three wonderful children, lover of wide open roads, vanadventures, national parks, and an eternal believer that birth can be both sacred and strong. My journey in birth work began over 20 years ago, first as a labor & delivery nurse and later as a doula, and I’ve spent most of my life supporting families through those powerful, threshold moments where everything changes. I currently serve families as both a doula and birth assistant, bringing a calm, grounded presence and a deep respect for physiologic birth. I’m equally comfortable offering hands-on guidance, quiet reassurance, or skilled clinical support when needed. Advocacy, intuition, and evidence-based care shape the way I show up, always attuned, always adaptable. Originally from the Midwest, I studied nursing in San Diego before traveling through South America, Europe, and Australia. Along the way I worked as a postpartum doula and night nanny, studied midwifery, and immersed myself in diverse birth traditions. I finally planted roots in Bend in 2014, where I continue to raise my three kids and pour my heart into this work. At my core, I believe birth deserves reverence and women deserve to feel powerful, supported, and seen. That’s why I’m here.

I am a registered nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (RN, IBCLC) with a background in critical care nursing. I began my career in a Coronary Care Unit, where I cared for critically ill patients and developed a strong foundation in clinical assessment, critical thinking, and compassionate care. Those early experiences shaped the way I approach all aspects of patient care, emphasizing attentiveness, empathy, and evidence-based decision-making.
After moving to Oregon in 2017, I transitioned into doula work, drawn by a deep passion for supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Working closely with families during these transformative moments helped me recognize the importance of lactation support and ultimately led me to specialize in this area. I am the mother of four children—two in middle school and two in high school—all of whom were breastfed. I bring both my clinical training and over six years of personal breastfeeding experience to guide families through their feeding journey. My approach is supportive, nonjudgmental, and tailored to each family’s unique needs. I am committed to helping families feel confident and empowered while fostering strong parent-child bonds.
